Default I know when the whooshing happens now...

I get this loud air whooshing sound whenever I drive my S4 for about 1/2 hour or more. The whoosh gets louder the harder I step on the gas. I seem to feel a loss of power when this occurs. Does anyone else experince this?
One person had mentioned that it might just be a fan trying to cool down the engine bay, but it's pretty loud, and if no one else experiences this normally, then I guess I'll need to call the dealer.
Anyone have any thoughts at all?

Default Ditto...

I have noticed the "loud air whooshing" noise replace the "smooth engine hum" when the car is warm, usually when the oil temp gauge is around
215-225.

I would like to hear other feedback on this phenomena. I am thinking of taking the car to the dealer to check it out.

Default I took my car into the dealer for that and this is the deal:

The service tech explained to me that it is the auxillary fan blowing. (He also said that it happens more often with the A6 2.7T's, so you might wanna go next door to ask as well.) He said at lower speeds the car is not moving fast enough to bring air into the engine bay and so that it why I was hearing it in 1st and 2nd gears (due to the slow speeds).

Now, if you hear this whooshing in higher gears, you might be experiencing something altogether different.

Also, a few months ago when I first started hearing this fan. I had the old(bad) Forge valves in and as you know, these Forge valves were sticking in extreme heat. So the fan was blowing and my valves were sticking both because of the heat. So at that time I was getting power loss and that horrible whooshing/fan noise. After I got a whole new set of Forge valves, (not just the replacement parts), the power loss did not accompany the fan noise. So, if you are getting power loss, from what I can gather, it either might be a totally separate issue OR possibly a problem with your valves but that is a guess.

And I know what you mean by loud because it is L-O-U-D. If you hear anything different keep me updated but this is how it was explained to me.

Good luck.
