I think I shot down an E36 M3's plan to attempt to humble me tonight...
...as I was about to exit to take the connecting ramp to my freeway home, I had just passed an M3. I scoot on up to about 85 and then slow for traffic on the ramp. About 2-3 seconds later I see the M3 coming up behind me, whereas previously he was just scooting along in the ~60mph traffic. It's a two lane ramp and I get an opening around slow moving traffic, goose it in 5th for a few seconds and find myself doing ~80mph up the ramp. I quickly notice the M3 has followed me and is gaining on me. I'm still in 5th and determine no more acceleration than that is necessary to dispatch with the lowly maximum horsepower output of an E36. I'm sure he was anticipating catching and passing me on the corner on the ramp. I'm up to nearly 90, and at the turn in point for the corner. The M3 still seems to be going the same speed as I, so I figure now it's time to demonstrate my capabilities a little bit. From corner entry to exit, I goose it again. By corner exit I'm surpassing 100mph with no drama as the ramp straightens out. The M3 has fallen back many car more car lengths in the process, probably lifting throttle at its extreme cornering speed of "only" 90mph. It didn't bother to try to catch up again. Way to go Eagle F1 GS-D3's, STaSIS, and of course thanks to The Drivers Edge high performance driving school for teaching me how to make the most of my driving.
