If you serviced your S4 at Diablo Audi read this
If you had an oil change done, they may have put in the wrong oil (20W50). They did on my A6 2.7T. It may also be an issue for the S4 but it is less likely because the problem arose from the fact that the spec for 2000 A6 was changed from 1999 - 20W50 became 5W40. Since there was no 1999 S4 (?), there likely was no previous spec. Please follow the link for more info.

i'm telling you... i'm not sure what's up with the service dept
or other areas of Diablo.
In fact I'm sure Steve S will respond and still tell me I'm the only one who has ever had a problem with Diablo Audi.. hah!!! Just ask AoA how many complaints they've had on them!! BTW, Steve, since I'm sure you'll be reading this, you asked all of us who got our S4's from Diablo to email you, because Ernst was gonna do something special for us. I emailed you and never heard back, is it because I don't like them? whatever... maybe I'm just having a bad day!

Particularly in the summer its not critical
In fact, the change over a model year with no major mechanical changes says it all. They finally got comfortable with testing on thinner oils and made the switch in recommendations. As I've posted before, many dealers use 15-40 or 10-40 all year round regardless of *anything*.

I never got your email....
Pls resend....
I like you just fine....everyone has opinions.
Again, I have ZERO experience with their service dept....The experience
I have is with Ernst Gosch and he IS the greatest. You didn't deal
directly with Ernst...you were with George Trapp, correct? If you
don't like them that is fine....but commenting negatively each time someone
mentions Diablo is not fair to them, or any other dealership. Try posing
a questions about service experience at Carlsen or Anderson-Behel
and see the variety of posts you get.
There is absolutely no dealership that will please 100% of the people
100% of the time.
I have no problems with people voicing their opinions...I just don't like
people saying that the whole dealership stinks because of their one
experience. I am also not downplaying the oil issue. If the car is
supposed to have a certain weight oil, that is what the dealers (any
dealership) should put in the car.
The dynamics of this forum tend to point out the bad things and
downplay the good things about dealerships. I just try to balance
it out and tell the true facts in perspective.
Again, email me and I will tell you whats up. (I forgot your email
address)

Aside from the oil issue, they were great...
They spent extra time trying to do my minor repair without the recommended engine removal. They gave me a loaner when they said they could not and they took my car in two days EARLY.
