im getting worried =/
my 2000 laser s4 is nearing 96k miles!!!!
it might just be becuase i keep hearing all this talk about the turbo's drilling, and it might put noises in my head.
but when i drive i still her the tipical spooling noise of the turbo's but when i get near 3k rpm i hear a noise that seems alittle odd. It isnt loud but i occasionally hear some noise that isnt the typical whistle. It doesnt sound like a power drill or anything like that but there is a noise
should i be worried?
is there anything i can do, like any parts i can install to help perserve the life of my turbos?
or should i just kiss my wallet and everything thats in it good bye?

LOL. Not much you can do my friend, except keep it in tip top condition
Pressure test for boost leaks, and VAG often to ensure the car runs good. Otherwise I would start saving. Not sure what your mods are, but a bare minimum is K04s ($2600) inlets (350 if you get the none OEM ones) and install of $2000. Not sure when you did your timing belt job, but you'll want to do that as well.
I drove quit awhile with loud K03s. They sounded like sirens spooling up and down, but under full boost they were pretty quiet. I suffered the same paranoia and eventually caved.
If you really aren't financially ready for K04s, then go back to stock if you aren't already, and stay out of boost as much as possible.
As someone told me once on here "Stop being a fvcking baby and drive the damn car."

The cost of K03s is nearly as much as K04s, so I wouldn't even bother with that.
Honestly, it's impossible to say how long they will last. In reality, they'll last longer than you think. A lot of people on here have driven many miles (40k even) with turbos that were loud.
Mine were making noise right after I chipped it at 95k. I drove the **** out of it until 125k with several long cross country trips, and they never actually got any louder. After I pulled them out and looked at them, they looked awesome actually. No blade damage, a *tiny* bit of shaft play, and they never leaked oil. So really, I think the paranoia gets the best of people on here. I probably could have got another 5 or 10k out of those turbos before they really went, but I don't know that for sure.
Get it pressure tested locally. A boost leak will kill your turbos way before their time. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry. Until it sounds like a screaming girlfriend in your ear, you'll be fine.
