Imola owners: Have you done anything about your soft paint?
I remember some talk a while ago about some Imola owners having trouble with paint chipping in the front bumper/fascia area. Did anyone do anything about this? I have had my Imola avant since January and I've had to touch-up many small paint chips. Almost every time I drive on the highway for any decent period of time I find another chip! This is getting to me! I had a silver A4 for 13 months and a Santorin S4 for 14 months and I think I touched up one tiny chip on each car. What's with this damn paint!?!

It was X-Pel for me early on.
However, I've still sustained chips around where the material doesn't cover -- and one chip from a rock that cut right through! I spend most of my driving time on the freeway, so I guess this is to be expected. You're right though, my wife's silver A4 is much more resilient.

U have a few options:
1)DOnt touch it up and when u get 200 chips on it - take it to the dealer and get it repainted under warranty like I did. My new paint is tougher then the original. They didnt put in the right ratio of flex in the Imola paint.
2) Get a clearbra done - expensive but probabl worth it for a new/clean car - I dont know how bad yours looks already. You can also get clear film from griots garage that is much cheaper then the clearbra...I dont know how it looks - thats what Im going to do.
Watch the rocker panels especially behind the wheels - these are shot on my car also after 5000 miles - AoA wouldnt paint those for my under warranty.

One of many things you can do is...
1. Get Clearbra's/Xpel films installed on your front bumper and hood
2. Install front nose bra (kinda silly)
3. Leave car home and take mass transit but even then you are still bound by unpredictable road terrain and road conditions that may chip your paint

my dealer repainted my bumper for "good will" while...
it was in for its first turbo replacement. I mean, it looked sandblasted...had over 100 chips in it. The repaint did NOT start chipping so I can only conclude that the factory paint didn't stick well or was too soft.
REALLY depends on what sort of dealer it is...every dealer will "try a claim" with AoA with little hope but when the car was all f**ked up, it was the least they could do.
