Default Information and pictures for those of you interested in the solid rubber (RS4) transmission mounts.

About a week ago I took my downpipes off, and in order to remove them, as I'm sure a lot of you know, either the subframe needs to be lowered or the transmission mounts (and their brackets) need to come out. I took them off instead of lowering the subframe because I've always wanted to inspect them. Needless to say, they are a mushy mess. They weren't broken but I could move them around with my hands without too much effort. I found out pretty much what I was expecting. So, I bought new ones. The solid rubber ones. If you go to Audi and try to buy new mounts for your car they still list the part number for the old style mounts on one side(4BO399151M) and the new part number for the solid mounts on the other side(8DO399151T). When you buy the mounts don't expect them to come with the hardware because they don't. You have to buy the washers, the screws, the nuts and the stops separately. What are the stops? They are the parts that I haven't seen anyone include(the tuners). Also, out of all the pictures I have seen of these mounts installed, noone has used them and I don't know why. They do kill the price of the mounts by quite a bit(only reason I see why people won't use them) but I don't think you should install your mounts without these parts. They go on the bottom of the mount right before you put the nut on the bolt. They are kind of like a big washer but a bit more than that. You will see it in the pictures I have provided, they are the black colored parts.
Here is the list of parts you will need with their corresponding part numbers. I am also including both retail and Audi employee prices(in case you have access to this).

-Rubber mount 8DO-399-151-T List $44.67 Net $32.16
-Washer N-903-152-02 List $1.10 Net $0.79
-Screw N-010-473-10 List $2.20 Net $1.58
-Stop 431-399-291 List $27.72 Net $19.96
-Nut N-023-004-7 List $0.82 Net
$0.59

Of course you will need two of each. List total is $153.02 and Net total is $110.16. The prices don't include tax.

Here are the pictures of all the new parts and some pictures of the new and old mounts side by side for comparison.

I am very happy with the results. I don't have a drive train stabilizer on my car or a snub mount and I don't plan on buying them either. Before I had too much play in the transmission but now everything is nice and stiff with no unwanted movement.

Default Probably dropping the subframe, less to remove and easier to get to.

Taking the heatshields off that go over the transmision mounts is a pain by itself. Than you have to take the brackets off the transmission(that hold the mounts). The bolts for those are another pain on their own.

Looks like you could fill the new mounts with polyurethane if you wanted even stiffer mounts.

Default I decided to not drop the subframe and took the shields off instead - not too bad. However,...

if I had to do it again, I would drop subframe. Dropping subframe makes it much easier to trace out the O2 wire from the passenger side DP, cut the factory zip tie holding the wire to the subframe and create more slack.

Luckily I have skinny wrists and paws so I was able to do the work without the need to drop anything. If you have hands like Hulk Hogan - go with Audisport44's suggestion.

Default TJ: I'm usually not a fan of the smoked tail lights but you've managed to pull it off very nicely...

with your black S, sir! Great looking ride you have there.

Are you the one who posted last week about the eBay link for the stainless steel O2 bungs and caps? If yes, that was very helpful. I just received mine today from that shop down in Florida!

What kind of "play" are you referring to?
