Default I've got a squeeky clutch!!!

Ok so the only thing I changed was that I switched brake fluid to ATE Super Blue when I upgraded to the MTM/Pagid brake pads. Could this be the cause of my squeeky clutch? Do the brakes and clutch share the same fluid? Or is this just a coincidence. If it isn't related to the brake fluid what else could it be? I've only got 15k on the car... I hope there is not somthing wrong with the clutch!

thanks for any info you can provide!

Default brakes & clutch share fluid?

I haven't looked hard, but I haven't seen to ressivors, so this is possible, but it seems odd to me (granted, I'm only comparing to my Toyota MR2's (85 & 91)...

in any case, I'm sure we'll be changing the super blue out of Josh's, mine, Kaplan & Thad's cars soon .... (I think we put it in all four of them?)

Yes they share the reservoir and the squeaky clutch is a known issue with Super Blue.

Default I saw that ATE bottle in the brake install pics, I thought "uh oh, don't they know about the

squeeky clutch problems with ATE Super Blue?"

I didn't see the pics until 2 days later though! Definitely change to Motul. You can get it from most motorcycle shops.

Default A good independant mechanic diagnosed my squeeky, sticky clutch as....

a lack of lubrication in the clutch rod sheath. The rod or cable(not sure which we have) slides in a sheath that can either dry out, or come that way(rarely) from the factory. I'm convinced that the SuperBlue had something to do with mine too, though. Change that junk out asap.

Default Get the blue stuff outta there!

Yeah, I installed SuperBlue in my A4 back in January this year. By the february event at ThunderHill I had the squeaky clutch. One of the instructors, Stan J, noticed and asked if I had SuperBlue in there. When I said yes he ordered me to get it outta there immediately. He had the same problem with his 98 A4 and the clutch slave cylinder actually started leaking. It was replaced under warranty.

Good luck,
Rich
