Default Jack Points?

I did a quick search last night and found a little info but did not find anything conclusive. I change from my snow tires to regular tires fairly often and like to be able to jack at one point to raise both the front and rear tire. I am using a hydrolic jack and last night I used a spot that is a plate where the rear part of the front A arm attaches to the car. On that plate there is a bulge. I hope you are following my discription, if not I can take a pic. Is this a OK spot? I used it and it seemed to work OK.

Cheers,
Jim

Default I don't think that there is a point that is meant to support that kind of

weight. I think you should stick to the Standard jacking points. If you raise the car high enough you may get both wheels off the ground. Obviously you want to have jack stands up just in case.

There is a reason for the rocker jack locations. Use 'em. Or don't. Not my car...

Default I use this placement. I can get both tires off the ground lifting here.

Default Yikes. Y'all are lazy. I'd be afraid to use only one jack point to get both tires up. Why not just

get jack stands and jack twice?

I remember the horror story someone posted here awhile ago about bending his frame by jacking in the wrong spot...

Default That plate should be OK to use as a jack point, but I would not try to get more than 1 wheel off the

ground. In the rear, there is a large washer that connects the rear subframe to the unibody - I've used that for the rear or the pinch weld with the pad that Pure MS sells that cradles the weld. Just don't jack on a sheet metal panel or suspension arm; if you use common sense and look where the main unibody supports the subframe, you will find spots that can handle the weight of one corner w/o problems. Trying to do 1/2 the car's weight is pushing it, IMO.
