Default Just back from Thunderhill. Had a great time on and off the track.

Wish my S4 was running though. Thunderhill is in most cases a very forgiving track and they have added some run off which allows for some speed on the back side of the track.

Ferrari F360 CS - he recently got it and was being very smart, leaving any ego in the paddock. Thing sounded awesome, didn't look too bad either :^)

The coupe next to 034's super sleeper. 600 WHEEL hp 5cyl 20v 2.3l GT turbo 89 90 quattro. Oh and he can only fit 205's on it.... Randy Pobst was out with a student (B6 S4) and Javad passed them so fast that Randy came looking for him after. Said he heard him comming and looked up, though it was a low flying jet. Car is stupid fast. Christain was out in it and stipped the gears off 4th, yes he was in 4th when it happened. Blew a hole in the side of the gear box as well. He came in and there was a trail of gear oil following him. He calls me over and say to me, "Watch this" as the car was cooling off he put the car in 4th (no clutch) and nothing happens, car just sits there. They make some of the fastest big turbo Audi's I have ever seen.

Does this car look familar?

That would be Alex's new Avant, formerly RobO's. Alex was my student and did awesome. Really has the car control and dynamics down.... I see him getting signed off to solo very soon. Had a lot of fun hanging out with the O34 and Europrice guys, really great group of people.

A couple of final shots before we all headed home. My RS6, Eddie Delgado's (Instructor and really good friend who owns AVS in Berkeley) 95.5 S6 (on a side note he can really move that thing around the track). He let me take it out since my brakes were toast on my RS6. We went out in his car and as we came down the straight I had a late pass which left me in not the best position and coming into turn 1.... trail braked, rear got a little loose, turned into throttle on with a little counter steer through the corner. Eddie got a little quiet and then when he figured it was going to be ok, started laughing.

Default So that 2Bennett car that went off the track...

I understand why you want to straighten the wheel when you're heading off the track, but why would you want to let up off the brakes?

Do you mean just ease off the brakes a bit so that the car isn't at its traction limit and doesn't get squirmy & possibly sideways?

Default keeping on the brakes on will cause you to lose all control.... if you are off the brakes and

if the car starts to drift sideways you can try to counter steer which would not work so well with the brake applied. Not untill the car really starts to slow do you want to try and apply the brakes. If the car get sideways in the mud it has a high likelyhood of digging in and rolling.

Think of it like driving in the snow... if you lock the brakes up (even with Anti-lock you can have the same problem)and then try turning, the car will not respond. Then take your foot off the brakes and try and turn, you will have more control.
