Hmm.. does stage 3 fall under "severe service applications"? I don't think I have the nerve to go 10k miles without changing the oil, let alone 15k I think I'll stick with 5k mile change intervals. BTW, it's around $26/5qt at Walmart.

All oils can shear, but the "HTHS" rating is a measure by how resistant that oil is to shear.
The M1 EP 5w30 has an HTHS of ~3.0. 502 requires an HTHS of 3.5 & above.
Only difference between M1 EP and regular M1 is that it has a higher TBN, or basically more additive pack.
