Default Just did some logging/tuning. ~4.5 FATS, and two SS Camaros didn't want to race :)

Pulled some fueling and put SEL scaling all the way to 100% - MBC limits to 1.2 bar mostly (though near redline it gets to 1.25). Ran about a 4.5 FATS right after waiting at a light - full tank of Shell 91, 45 ambient.

So after a few runs and tweaks, I call it a night and start heading home. Turn right (onto Page Mill from Foothill for you locals) and see two SS Camaros leave coming from the left, racing eachother. So I turned and took off after them. One of them puts his brakes on and drops back, so I pulled up next to him and gave him the 3 finger sign. Waited 5 seconds, honked three times, and took off at around 4500 rpm in 2nd. As you all know, 2nd gear is just brutally fast . The guy just sat there, and then when I passed his friend, he sat there too. Guess they didn't want to lose to an Audi . After leaving them I came up behind a Turbo, but needed to head home so I decided to leave him alone. I couldn't figure out why the Camaro guys didn't want to race - he was definitely looking over but then decided against it. I was driving in front of them for about a minute too, so they could have easily pulled up next to me again. Who knows...

Also, I'm getting a decent amount of misfires in Cylinder 1 at idle - all others stay at 0. If I give the engine a little rev, the misfires stop for a while. Any ideas? I probably get one every 2 seconds, on and off, so probably 20 in a minute. You can hear them when the car is idling, just little burbles.

Also, once Streetwerke gets their dyno I hope I can get to the bottom of the higher-than-normal knock in a controlled environment. I have timing pulled 2 degrees, and have the same file Brian has (Matrix/GIAC/Moss 91). I see around 17-21 mostly, but have one 24 and one 28 (in cylinder 2 near redline).

Default Darin posted the other day about how tire size has a huge impact on FATS times.

I won't pretend for a minute that I can understand the math behind it, but don't feel too bad about those times with your 275s. Have a log of your timing? We all love graphs

New spark plugs, right?

Default very blunt question, but why is your car so slow?

It seems others with less mods have been able to pull quite better FATS tims. 4.6s??? Thats stage 2+ time, not k04/k16, headers, i/cs, etc.

does tire size really make that much of a difference? looks like you should be near the top of em.

Default are you sure your rolling diameter doesnt throw off your FATS? im at 4.1 on 91 oct

i see anywhere from 10.5 at lowest to 17.3 degrees of timing when WOT on my FATS runs. These were done at 17.5psi and 65*F ambient temps...hmmm maybe we could toooon our cars better i personally think i could see 3.5x FATS on 91 oct....without going over 18psi

Default Cause it's in California - higher ambient and crappy gas than most

There are several other Stage 3 cars running similar times on 91. Plus, and not to make excuses, but I have big wheels, big tires, and my car is a fatty .

Plus, you'll notice I said I was sitting at a light. Some people drive for a while before doing a FATS to cool the IC's - I don't really care, I'm just tweaking some stuff in Lemmi. But, I do have somewhat high knock, and I'm trying to get to the bottom of that.

Default No, I'm actually sure it does - 2% speedo difference, plus weight

But that's not the problem - the main problem is the knock activity. I'd like to figure out a way to find out if I truly am getting lots of knock, or the sensors are getting jumpy somehow. I have a vibration at 40 mph from something, probably a small bend in the wheel, so who knows.

Default Also, stage 3 on 91 really doesn't run any more boost than Stage 1

My Stage 2 S4 only did .1 bar less boots than I do now.

Default Thoughts ...

Since you got new plugs, try swapping coilpacks (e.g swap cp of cyl 1 & 2) and see if the misfires move.

Just curious have you had it cleaned with seafoam, or equiv, yet ? As it's a 2000 I bet there's a lot of built-up crap in there.

What are you doing putting Shell in your car ? That stuff is cow **** ... STFA
