Default K04 compared to GT2554R

Just a bit of information on how plotting engine CFM/PR on compressor maps can be helpful.

These are compressor maps with the plotted target for a stage 3 running 22 psi/1.5 bar. Both are making about 470 HP, but the Garret is running below surge and the boost would have to be substantially reduced at lower rpm. Also the efficiency is lower. For both 22 psi is about as high as one would want to go and stay within save shaft rpm limits.

You mean tapering to 22 psi?

Default No. 22 or so max. I cannot edit my post - but I meant 470, not 370 HP

I beleive what is often referred to as a taper is really coming off a spike and down to maximum sustained. That spike lasts only for a short time and would cause serious overspin if it did last.

So I can disregard the spike? The taper happens quickly. I'm averaging 20 - 21 psi to redline.
