Koni vs Bilstein: How is this possible?
The following is a weight comparison of Bilstein Sport Shocks vs Koni Sport Shocks. As you can see, the Bilsteins are a good 12lbs lighter overall than Konis, representing approximately a 50% difference in weight!!! How is this possible when neither appears to even be aluminum!? Am I missing something here? Like maybe the lighter shock uses some hardware on the car which the heavier shock doesn't?
Bilstein Sport Shocks:
Front: 3.6lbs each
Rear: 4.1lbs each
Koni Sport Shocks:
Front: 6.75lbs each
Rear: 7.03lbs each

I've ridden in cars with both.
The difference is due to the Koni being oil filled versus Bilstein being gas filled. For the racetrack, Koni's rule- they're used in the Tracksports I have.
Looks like your decision is going to be weighing the merits of the lighter weight of the Bilsteins versus the superior damping of the Konis.

Yeah, that's HUGE for just swapping shocks. Some people put a CF hood on...
and don't even lose 12lbs. Like the VIS hood for example. Hahaha. BTW, 12lbs isn't jack but when you combine it with all my other stuff, it adds up fast. That's part of the reason why my S4 is so quick.
