Default Launching debate

Ok, we have a problem. My friend says I don't launch the car right. I just rev to 3-4 grand and drop the clutch. Stage 2+, chirps the tires in first, takes off like a bat outta hell, no problems there. He says I need to feather the clutch out, and I'll never get a 1.8 60ft. I bet him a hundred bucks that I can get it next time we head to the track. He says I'm dropping the nose of the car in 1st...I say he's crazy. Can you drop the nose by dropping the clutch at full throttle?

Default YEP.. He is absolutely right, hold the r's at 3K and before the light goes start giving it throttle

Gently, you want to be giving it throttle as you are letting out of the clutch.. Dropping it at that low RPM, you will absolutely drop your nose.

But you don't want to drop the hammer either, maybe from 3K to 3750 or so..

He is absolutely right and I have 60ft's to prove it..

Default Wait wait wait...

Run this by me again. I punch the gas 100% right before I drop the clutch to put load on the engine (so the BPVs open and the turbos spool) at about 3k, then when it's nearing 3500, 4k, I sidestep the clutch and BAM. All this about the light throttle, slow feathering of clutch...I don't see how this helps speed. I think I'm missing something here...what is it?

Default lets the clutch engage closer so it grabs quicker the more slip the more time your losing........

if you drop the clutch it will just slip or worse smoke. On the otherhand if you sidestep it it will grab quicker and more frequently. Also helps keep the clutch in good health.
