Leakage from Center of engine?
While changing my oil I noticed a bit of seapage of an oil residue coming in between the transmission and engine. I couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from and it wasn't alot but it worried me a bit.
I took it in to the dealer and had them check it out while it was in for the 40k service and they said it was fine. Said it wasn't anything to worry about.
Any clue what it could be...the car is certified (2 more years) so I'm not too worried about it.
Any thoughts??

If it's anything, I say it's the main rear crank seal for the engine.
Had mine replaced and so have several others due to similar symptoms.
The part is only like $100.00 but, the trans will have to come out. So this makes for a good opportunity to do any clutch/flywheel upgrades you may be considering.

Re: Leakage from Center of engine?
It could be the rear main seal, upper pan gasket or the front seal on your tran. Until you start seeing drops on the floor or your about to run out of warranty it should be ok.

Thats what I have read....
Any way I could find out for sure or do I just have to wait until it gets worse. I'm still under factory warranty so I'd like to get them to replace it.
Is that considered a wear item? For example would it be covered under the Certified warranty, if it is a seal? If so I'd obviously like for them to replace it if thats what it is? But right now they are saying its fine.

after replacing my rear main and having no affect on the leak I'm convinced it's
cam seals.
Now that the engine is out it's fairly obvious these and the valve covers leak horribly.
