Level of service- VW / Audi Dealership vs. Porsche / Audi Dealership
After coming from a Land Rover where the service 'guides' have their own desk, your car is thoroughly washed and you are given a bouquet of flowers when you pick up I wasn't too impressed with the level of service at the VW Audi dealership where I bought my 2000 S4. Always had to stand in line first thing in the AM just to drop keys off and got car back without a wash. Now after moving and going to a Porsche Audi dealer it's a whole new world. Better service, no lines, sparkling clean car in and out. No flowers but that's OK. Based on this experience, if I buy another Audi, I will definitely go to a Porsche Audi dealer and not one that sells VW. Anyone else notice this? Does servicing the VW clientele drag the level of service down?

Here is my whole rant on this disturbing subject.

I feel the whole reason that Audi VW and Porsche has such bad service is because it is Audi VW and Porsche in one shop working only one shift. You don't see BMW, Cooper, and Range Rover in one shop, or Honda and Acura sharing Beds, or Lexus and Toyoda, or well you get the idea. They spread themselves too thin. Each brand needs it's own service reps, techs, and garages.

Porsche/Audi Not always the Best
I've been through two Porsche/Audi dealerships, so I can't compare to VW. One P/A dealer is a little better than the other - they generally get you in and out quicker and with less hassle. The other P/A dealer I've been to has massive lines (at least for pick-up).
As for clean cars and flowers - ha! I wish. The funny thing is, an AoA rep always calls me after the service appointment and asks whether the dealer washed my car. My answer is always no, at which point they ask me if there was any condition that might have prevented a wash. Again, my answer is generally no, though it was raining earlier in the day of one of my pick-ups.
So, bottom line, at least some of the Porsche/Audi dealers are both slow and lazy. Frankly, I think it depends more on the individual dealer.
For what it's worth, I originally bought my car from a separate Audi dealer, and got *excellent* service. But then, I was putting a lot of cash on the table at the time, so that might have caused them to be a little nicer to me

Porsche owners probably "broke-in" the service reps at the Porche/Audi dealerships
I usually find there's a trickle down. It's usually better to have a lower-end model of a high-end marque than the other way around, at least for service.

Kind of long and winded .... Sorry
Bought mine from a Bentley/Porsche/Audi/Chevy dealer and had it serviced there four times. They don't offer a loaner, the service tech had no idea what he was talking about most of time (his answer was always, "I'm not sure") so I stopped taking it there. I now go to a VW/Audi dealer. I get a loaner and my service tech looks for things to replace under warranty. I just got new rotors and brakes, because I complained of "noise". He seems more helpful and knowledgable. I guess some things can be said for when your car is considered the "premium" brand at a dealership.

Audi is always swamped with work because it's FREE, under the Audi Advantage plan
no other marque that I know of offers this plan. I would normaly do the routine maintanence my self, but why should I....It's FREE, I bring my car in for any little complaint because it's gonna be FREE! well actualy it's not free because I'm sure Audi adds the average cost of all the "free" service into the new car price. Audi's plan figured into my purchase decision. I figured I could squeeze about a thousands bucks of service outta them before my warranty ends.
