Default (Michelin Pilot Sport Update)...Luke, what's the scoop with the "91Y"

I went outside, jacked up the car, took the wheels off and examined each sidewall under a microscope and this is what was written on them:
Radial X
225/45 ZR 17 91Y
B TUBELESS
Pilot SPORT /Z <-- Flag

Default would that be the means to produce a slightly different treaded tire for each class, if so...

...why would a lighter and slightly slower car (BMW 330i vs. Audi S4) get a better (IMO) handling tire.

If it were Audi's decision to do this, they held the bong too long when doing so.

Default why? the answer is simple: $

previous S4s have come with P6000s and RE040s which are also cheaper.

Default "91Y" is a service description and it indicates load rating and speed rating.

If you are comparing the 330I tires to your S4 tires I hope you are not comparing the rear tires because the BMW has a wider rear tire and the tread pattern is a little more spread out. I have spoke to several people and there is not an Audi specific Pilot Sport, also there is not a BMW specific Pilot Sport but the BMW does use a different Pilot Sport. The BMW model does not have a 91Y service description. The Audi tire is made in Germany and the BMW tire is made in France. I am having 1 of each of these tire brought to my desk so that can see the differnce and identify the differences. I will let you know what I find. Basically this is alot of typing to say "I do not know but, I will find out"
