Milltek exhaust leak questions....
Well, I put on the Milltek exhaust the other weekend. I used the "pipe dope" (exhaust paste)and all.
I've got exhaust leaks at both ends of the "y" pipe. Where the Milltek "y" pipe "meets" the stock cat pipes, and on the opposite end of the "y" pipe where it meets the resonator. I've tried to "relocate" the clamps, but to no avail of the problem.
From looking in the archives, it's a well-known problem, and I've found these two options to be the best:
OPTION 1
Go to a respectable muffler shop and have the joints welded.
--I don't like this idea as I have future tuning plans.
OPTION 2
(I don't want to use the JC Whitney clamp)
Use these pipe clamps:
http://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/107/html/0187.html
If these are the clamps to get, what sizes are the proper ones?
Do these clamps resolve the problem?
You would think that Milltek would have come up with the proper "fix" for this "known" problem, as it has been a problem for quite some time now....
Any other tips/ suggetions are greatly apppreciated.
THANKS!<ul><li><a href="http://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/107/html/0187.html">http://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/107/html/0187.html</a</li></ul>

Weld it.....
Why would welding be a problem for you? I had a cat replaced recently and the shop cut the bad one off and welded the new one on. Labor was $70. My Milltek has been welded for some time now because of leaks, and I haven't had a problem since. The only reason, as far as I can tell, that aftermarket exhausts come in pieces is for shipping. Otherwise, they's come in one piece, like the stocker.
