Default Missing some dots in my dashboad LED display.

Just noticed this morning that a line of LED's wasn't working in my dashboard display. A horizontal line right through the outside temperature reading wasn't lighting up. Then, all of a sudden, when I got into my car after lunch, it was working fine again. Is this a sign that it is about to die? Or is it a common glitch?

Default Somewhat common failure. You'll need a new instrument cluster.

This isn't something you want to have fail outside of a warranty, that's for sure.

common glitch on German cars. By the time I sold my 750iL, 1/4 of pixels were missing...

one of the ICs driving the lines seems a weakling. I have the same issue, it comes and goes, but it started occurring only after cell phone post amp and radar detector were installed. I will do a check and find out whether it is fixable - although soldering Small Outline gull winged SMT chips is not that much fun.

Used early E32s are actually pretty affordable to buy.
