Default More about my S4 that was stolen...

Well, they found it, in Newark. Bad place to have a car found. Check that, bad place PERIOD. Very scary. I hope to never go back. Long story short, the thieves punched a small hole through the driver's side door to break the doorlock, and then somehow ripped out the ignition module in the steering column. Off they went on what must have been quite a joyride, probably stopping at their house to dropoff my personal belongings. Eventually they crashed it and from what I can tell fled immediately. They left brand new CDs in the car (probably from the Sam Goody right next to the Kinko's where it was stolen). Anyway, the interior is a mess, with cigarettes everywhere along with spilled food and drink. There are scratches all over the car I'm sure, either from them f*cking around or from the thick dirt that coats it from the towing lot. Damage from the crash doesn't look as bad as it could have been. They must have sideswiped something with the front right corner so that area and the passenger door are all messed. The things I'm most worried are the stuff I won't know about till later...did they trash the clutch, gearbox, or TURBOS? Did the towing company screw up Quattro? Will the airbags, ABS, ESP still work? Does anyone know if my comprehensive insurance will pay for the dealer to examine all these things when the bodyshop is done?

Also, can someone tell me how to post pictures here? I'd like to show before and after pics.

Thanks. Keep your cars safe my fellow Audi-Worlders.

Back in February, someone broke my driver's side door lock too in Hoboken but failed to successfully enter the car.

Default Sorry to hear about it. I hope those bastards get what's coming to them.

I seem to hear a trend where thieves don't seem to have too difficult of a time getting into and getting off with our S4s.

Does the stock system come with a starter kill relay?

Is there a 'preferred' aftermarket alarm to at least slow down these thieves?

Default They would porbably rather repair it and take the risk of further repair if they...

...don't absolve themselves - i.e. $6000 + another poss. (let's say) $5000 later in unforeseeable repairs needed due to the theft vs. $38,000 to 'total' now.
