Default More VIR pics.... (fixed the red x's)

it was a blast. I'm now on the waiting list for the next 2 FATT days at Summit Point. Here are a few pics, although I could use a better zoom. But, hey it was that or downpipes !

Default OMG...armco and trees...how "quaint"...

amazed to see Armco still in use after so many open-cockpit drivers were killed by it.

Default I was almost killed by one of those barriers a few years ago. Construction crew was lifting one at

an angle with a crane. They were doing repairs on a three lane bridge, it was down to 2 lanes and marked 55mph. One worker lost his grip on the ropes they were using to guide it, it swung and the momentum ripped it out of the other guys hands. Of course since guy #2 was trying not to lose his grip, it swung to a stop right in line with my head about two car lengths in front of me. Fortunately my emergency lane change skills were up to par. Caused quite the traffic slow down behind me.

Default Have you been to Watkins Glen?

there's a lot more Armco there, and it's all REAL close to the track!

VIR has mostly wide-open run-off areas, and where there is an obstacle reasonbly close to the track they've got massive tire barriers between you and the object. It really is a superb (and safe) track.

Quick Reply: More VIR pics.... (fixed the red x's)
