my car died and was flatbedded to dealership
hey everyone, maybe some of you could shed some light on what happened to my car:
for the last week i've had a few related problems. sometimes the car wouldn't start, it would just turn over and turn over, no warning lights, just the dash saying "depress clutch pedal to start engine" well, yeah, duh. the problem went from an isolated incident to a chronic problem in the space of a week (plus a week where I was out of the country and the car was driven only once)
the other problem is that it would just die while in motion suddenly (as if you had pulled the key out of the ignition), and then wouldn't be able to restart for a few minutes and a lot of frustrated curses. before i had a chance to call the dealership to schedule an appointment the car died in traffic and had to be flatbedded to the dealership.
fuel pump/filter/regulator? what gives? is there some kind of sensor that senses the clutch pedal being down that could have gone faulty? i am not a technical person, so go easy on me.
the dealership won't be able to look at it for a few days, so any advice could help me when I deal with them.
the car has an MTM H box and some other mods, mostly suspension, exhaust, etc.
thanks in advance

Re: Perhaps a bad connection somewhere in your aftermarket ECU.
i did think of that, actually, and for good reason. whoever soldered the socket onto my ECU for the MTM chip screwed it up the first time, and it had to be resoldered. the resoldered ECU was given to to someone else, but the thought remains that it was the same guy who did mine. i remember the car behaving somewhat differently though when it had the bad ECU. what i don't understand is how it would get worse with time, being somewhat intermittent and then completely failing.
thanks and other thoughts welcome

I'm not convinced that it's the ECU (and I don't have a spare, fyi)
...nevermind it's not that easy to swap an ECU in rush hour traffic as your car sits in the middle of a interesection in 20 degree weather.
and i'm a very happily modded customer for the record.
