Default My take on next S4

We know for a fact that Audi-Cosworth is developing a Twin Turbo V8 for the RS6 with 450 hp. Audi does not build engines exclusively for one car, that is obvious with all their engines, and is economically sound for a realtively small company.
I believe that the next S4 wll get a 350 HP version of the TT V8, this engine will also find it's way into the next gen S6 and S8 in different states of tune, although it's debut will be in the RS6.
The TT V8 is perfect for Audi to play off of the sucess of the Le Mans effort in a very effective ad campaign, but to make it worth developing they need to put it into different models for economic feasability.
350 HP sounds perfect for the S4, it is 10 less than the current flagship S8 and 10 more than the Euro M3, and detuned from 450 hp, it should be quite reliable.
Of course a chip will put the S4 in the 400+ hp range recue reliability somewhat and play havoc with your warranty, however it will let you humble M5's, and maintain the same level of superiority the current chipped S4 has over the E36 M3.

Default I thought they couldn't get the TT V8 to work in the (larger) 6 platform, it was melting brakes...

with so much heat.

Just another rumor I suppose. Have to wait and see.

I'm calling my dealer today to put me on the wait list. I want the first right of refusal in my area!

Default What about a 2.9 turbo. It would make sense based on the current...

2.8 to 2.7T relationship. They could easily get 300 HP out of it if they tweaked it properly. Then they could discontinue the A6 4.2 and have the S6 sedan in the US. That would make their product line make sense to me.

A4 1.8T
A4 3.0
S4 2.9T

A6 3.0
A6 2.9T
S6 4.2
S8 4.2

300hp won't compete with the E46 M3 which I assume would play a role in the decision.

Default If AUDI is not reading your posts and everyone elses, they need to get a clue...we want...

major twin turbo power with a V6...no larger.

No biggie, you'll notice that a lot big MB and BMWs can keep up on the freeway, they are fast.
