My timing and/or fan belt squeeks.
I have a 2000 s4 and either my timing belt or fan belt is squeeking. i have 43,000 miles on it so it may be time to replace it. Is this an easy project to fix or not.

Re: I doubt your timing belt is squeeking. If it is - you're in big trouble.
Any ideas? I need to drive 280 miles from VA to PA. Am I going to make it. Can i do anything to stop the squeeking?

The belt squeals constantly? That's odd, most will go away with engine revs. Are you sure it's not
waterpump bearings? Might want to have a mechanic check the sound - it's hard to diagnose over the intarweb.

I agree it's hard to tell. But it is louder under accelleration and quiets when clutch is in and under neutral gearing. Still sound like the pump maybe, not the belts?
