NE1 know what the maximum psi that the stock Turbos are capable of?
#2
Well...
Define "capable of." I think the maximum efficient boost is maybe 1.2 bar or so... over that they just start producing excessive heat.
Now people have run more PSI through the turbos without failure... looks like Taner is hitting 1.7+ bar with the GIAC XR chip... which seems crazy high.
But PSI is really not a good measure of much... because the proper and safe PSI varies a LOT based on how much air the engine is trying to suck in... if you're at high RPM the turbo has to work VERY hard to maintain positive pressure, which generates a lot of heat when efficiency is low.
Why do you ask?
