Someone contacted me by e-mail requesting the VIN #. Should I divulge? S/he didn't leave a name or an address, only e-mail request for more information. The car was posted on the A4 classified board.

It's fine to give them your vin#. They're just checking for an accident history. It won't harm you in anyway to give them your vin#. I sold my A4 two months ago. The person who bought it asked for my vin# also.

Sorry if I missed any posts concerning this. I just put my 99 1.8T on the market and would like to know about your experience. What tools did you use to sell it? ie: A4.org classifieds, local classified, national(internet) car finder thingy.

I really miss my old A4. I think I might have actually gotten a little teary eyed as I saw it being driven away.

I only posted my car on Yahoo's classifieds for $25,500. I had a 98 2.8 manual loaded with 28,000 miles. Best offer I got from a dealer (Carmax) was for $23,500. Yeah, I know everyone's been posting their 98's for around 27,000, but I was going to be happy getting a grand or two above a dealer's offer and I didn't feel like waiting too long to sell my car. Sold it for 25,200. A woman from NY (I'm in DC) was planning to fly down and buy it without seeing it first. While in the process of her bank paying off my balance, I got serious offer from someone local for $2,000 more!!!!! Since, I had promised the woman from NY my car, I sold it to her. I offered her to split the $2,000 if she would pass on buying the car from me, but she wouldn't budge. She wanted the car.

Moral of the story: Wait as long as you can (to the very last minute) and hold out for the right price.
