Default Need new tires--stay stock or go plus zero?

Baby needs new shoes. I'm thinking hard about going with Toyo T1-Ss this time.
Has anyone done a plus "zero" and replaced the stock 225/45-17s with 235/40-17s (this is for an S4 Avant)? Any upside or downside to speak of? Does the added handling/grip benefit outweigh the added cost and --more importantly--weight?

Thanks for any input.

Default I've had both sizes. I didn't notice a difference...

That said, the S-03's are much better than the RE730's they replaced. The best handling treak I've done is the Neuspeed 19mm rear sway bar. That change dwarfs any side wall differences for me. I'm otherwise stock.

I've got the bigger rear bar as well. Need to see how the SO-3 compares to the Toyo, price-wise...

Default $162 / $182 as I recall from tirerack. Interesting thing: they list Y speed

rating but when the tires arrived they were Z rated.

Downside: Shorter sidewall = more potential for denting rims on potholes.
