There is a definate sweet spot where you hold pedal half down or so, and car flies.

Default I've noticed it too. Seems to be just that right combination of RPMs & throttle for the boost

to kick in best.

My Tip is the same, otherwise you down shift, loose time and just make a lot of noise.

Default Its an electronic system - calibratin could do that.

Its not a wire to a butterfly (at least I dont think so), so what you could be sensing is a potentiometer with a dead zone at the end - not unlikely.

Default May have something to do with timing retardation at WOT.

Maybe the most power is made at partial air/fuel but more advanced ignition. At WOT some other turbo cars (XR4Ti and Eclipse) spray extra fuel to keep the cylinders cooler. The extra fuel actually causes a less efficient combustion providing less power.

Don't you have a chip? They could potentially have made the engine more agressive at WOT but it would reduce longevity I guess.

later,

Default After reading manual, it seems unlikely

There are two potentiometers, completely independant, that measure accelerator pedal position. As you step on pedal, one pot increases resistance, while the other decreases resistance. The computer monitors both, and if there is an inconsistancy, it stores a DTC and lights the EPC (electronic power control) warning light on the instrument cluster.

Good idea. Why not hook up VWtool and data capture timing data
