New clutch STILL not disengaging properly. Please help!
symptoms:
- clutch cathces VERY low...I can hear/feel very slight engagement with any movement of the clutch off the floor.
- Shifting forward gears at a standstill, with the car on or off is a little notchier/stiffer than I remember
- Shifting into reverse is NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE, car on or off
- With car on, I can hear and feel minor GEAR GRINDING when I try to put the car in reverse
- Forward gears & clutch engagement seem totally fine when driving.
My analysis: Clutch is not fully disengaging, but just barely. What could be causing this?
story:
RS4/Kevlar clutch and OEM flywheel installed...clutch didn't release fully. Clutch came out, SAC mechanism was reset (thought to be possible problem...though SAC looked okay when I gave it to 'em) and reinstalled. Same problem. Clutch came out AGAIN, and mechanic then told me he was pretty convinced it was an improperly resurfaced OEM flywheel. My old OEM flywheel went back in and now this is what's happening.
What could be the problem!?!?!?

maybe, but it's certainly not the problem here.
Though I'd be a little pissed if it doesn't hold any better than the stock disc given I paid ~$250 more for it. I don't really think Piggie would use 'em if that were the case, though.

If there's an easy way to check, you can compare thickness of..
clutch, kevlar vs. standard. Though, I don't think this could be the problem.
Did the flywheel from VAST have the pilot bearing pressed in? When I thought about getting the resurfaced flywheel from VAST, I noticed the pilot bearing was extra.
I don't think it's the resurfaced flywheel and I think you just proved that.
What about the slave cylinders. I've read people blowing them out after clutch changes because they were installed improperly. Perhaps yours is not fully seated or something. Those things are a PITA to remove and reinstall.
