New to the Forum...A few questions
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum here and hope to get some valuable info for my new (2001.5) S4. I joined VWVortex when I had my GTI and still frequent that board alot, and really get alot of good info out it--I hope to get the same from here. So anyway, here goes:
1. What are the requirements to get a brake change under warranty?
2. What is the "F-Pipe" problem I here about? Hoppen Motorsports site lists a replacement MTM/Hoppen F Pipe since the stock ones are problematic.
3. Who as done the APR Bi-Pipe? Is it a good mod? Or should I just get a heavy duty TBB to replace the OE part?
4. What kind of oil (syn/brand/etc.) should I use and how often should I change it?
Thanks alot!

A few things.
1. Just complain on how your brakes feel if there is an issue.
2. I used the f-pipe from Hoppen. It does help fix the problem because of being metal.
3. I have the bi-pipe as to others. It lowers the chances basically 100% of the TBB failing. Good safe/security mod.
4. M1 0w-30 and 0w40 are what is used here or Amsoil Series 2000 0w-30.
Just a few suggestions. Good luck and enjoy.

[1st offense nice edit] all of your questions can be answered by simply searching...
otherwise you might find yourself victim to various member hostility.

To answer your questions:
1. 2001.5's don't have the F-hose. It was replaced in late 2001.
2. It's a good mod if you plan on eventually upgrading turbos, but IMO, I don't think it's really necessary until then.
3. Go to your local dealer to get your Audi changed about every 3-4,000 miles and NEVER use any of those quick oil change shops.
Congrats on your new S4. Make sure you keep enough cash laying around for repair work b/c it's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when".

I thought the brake wear indicator had to be on, and I think there's a limit to how many times
within a given mileage interval you can have them replaced (so if the previous owner already had them replaced, you can't get them replaced again until you hit a certain mileage).
As for oil, M1 0w40 is popular. 5k mi. interval if you're ****; 8k mi. should be safe to go between changes IF you're on M1 0w40.

Don't let the forum paranoia get to you!
1. What are the requirements to get a brake change under warranty?
<I assume you are Audi Assured, rotor issues do seem to be common. Describe your brake issue to the tech.>
2. What is the "F-Pipe" problem I here about? Hoppen Motorsports site lists a replacement MTM/Hoppen F Pipe since the stock ones are problematic.
<You don't have one>
3. Who as done the APR Bi-Pipe? Is it a good mod? Or should I just get a heavy duty TBB to replace the OE part?
<An over-priced fix for a problem that was due to clamps, NOT the boot. Many still have their original TBB, with new clamps. By a $25 spare, and pressure check you system at each oil change. AWE has a good write-up on how to pressure check your car. Some Bi-pipes had pin-hoile leaks, and fit issue with the fan.>
4. What kind of oil (syn/brand/etc.) should I use and how often should I change it?
<M1 synthetic seems to be the favorite, 0-30 and 0-40, though Amsoil, and others seem to do the job. 3500-7500 seems to be the interval.>
Congrats, and good luck!
