Default Count the ratios of A4's to S4's for sale. The A4's must really be unreliable by comparison.

There is a flaw in your logic somewhere.

I doubt there are more x-chips than others. Isn't the x-chip less than a year old?

Default ...one more thing, is everyone selling their X chip selling because they blew a turbo?

I don't know how many X chips are out there in comparison to the others. I would speculate that APR and GIAC own the market for S4's, but just like you, I would be speculating. Your second assumption seems to be that people are selling them because they have blown a turbo?

Are the classified posts the only reason you have come to the conclusion that X chips blow turbos?

Default I doubt they all blew turbos...

more likely they are nervous from reading this board about the potential. The only reason I made the original post is that I read posts where an owner went from an APR or MTM to the x-chip and then had problems. An argument could be made that the other chip caused unseen damage and it just happened to break with the x-chip, whatever. And there must be many more chips from other makers than the x-chip, like I said I think it's only a year old.

Default The S4 is a very nice car and well worth a look. Whether it's mod-friendly depends upon

what type of mods you have in mind. The basic ones like ecu and exhaust are easy enough. However, having to remove the whole engine to do a turbo upgrade is a bit over the top in my book. Then again, I'm used to working on DSM's so I'm probably spoiled.

Good luck

Default You understand, posts like this could make people nervous, right?

and yet there isn't an ounce of fact in this entire thread. So just because 4 people read posts like this on AW, and decided to sell their X chips doesn't lend any credibility to the statement "chances of failure goes down dramatically if you ... don't install an X chip".

I'm not trying to flame you, I just disagree with what you have posted. While you may be right, you stand an equally good chance at being wrong. There are no real facts (as opposed to conjured facts) to support what you're saying.

They do, but I think it's incredibly high risk.
