New model badging differences
I have seen some S4s on the road down here in Miami with what looks like a new badging. It's a much clearer "S4" instead of the grey and red bars. Is this new to the 2002s only, or does the 2001.5 have it too? Are there any other changes between the 2001 and the 2001.5 and 2002 that you know about?

They are all iterations of each other. That's what makes them all "Audi Sport"
The fact is that the original has been modified to the "old" one and the "old" one has been modified to the new one. For Audi to release such a symbol into public cirulation means that they all have to relate to Audi and the Sport part.
You see, they all come after the previous one, and they all reflect the sign of the times as all design, music, art and culture does. So it's possible that the "old" design doesn't quite fit into today's modernistic model, much like the "old" design was intended to when it was released.
The Audi and the VW corporate logos themselves have been modified over time, as has just about every corporate logomark in the world.

Re: The 2001 S4s got them, designed to be clearer to averge joe
So, does anybody know what models have what changes, badge or otherwise? I heard the 2002s had new badges and larger front brake disks.

Not true. Sometimes there are drastic changes...
It depends on each company and how removed they want the new mark to be.
Just look at Burger King and Pepsi. Nike changes so much that there is hardly any resemblence, but their change is very much linked to being in tune with today's visual vernacular.
