Is it unrealistic to expect to get an 01 S4 that hasn't been driven hard or seen track time?

Default I would argue the otherwise....track cars would be good to get

the only thing that gets extra wear and tear are the brakes and tires at the track. If the car has been tracked, it has proven it is reliable and not gonna break. Counter argue all you like, but the fact the car has been tracked would never keep me from buying a car. In most cases it doesn't even matter considering they still have a warranty left on the car

Not at all...but you are on an ENTHUSIAST site, remember. There are plenty who are sedate drivers.

Default Yep....you proved that part to be deffective at an earlier date

than someone who drives the car like a baby. That turbo would have failed sooner or later, you just sped it up. Get the crap parts out and replace them with good ones

Default Untrue, COMPLETELY! Clutch/tranny wear and perhaps badly...

... worn suspension/bushing components, etc...

Plus more engine/turbo wear as the rigors of acclerated acceleartion/deceleration are more so than the street.

Why do you think its prefferable to get a freeway car over a street car milage wise?

Tracking a car doesn't mean proving reliabiltiy.
