Sure they can w/ the right engine bay and body (mainly hood line) modifications...
...though the aesthetic result may be hideous. We have seen a prototype version posted here many times.

Always arguing with me, huh? :-) I though that prototype was on the A6 platform, not the S4.
And like I said, Audi wants to compete with the M3 head to head, NOT the M5. Which would mean using a 6, not an 8. AND they probably still want to compete with the WRX and EVO 7, so a 6 would be in order. An 8 versus a 4 just wouldnt be right.

Hehe. I totally agree with the M3/S4 reasoning and am not assuming the V8 is to come,...
but was answering that I think a V8 might fit into a S4/A4 platform with some major changes. Maybe it indeed was an A6 platform which would also explain the V8 fitment, but there was still the fairly high hoodline modification which made me think more S4/A4 platform. Hmmmmmm, well maybe I will run across a post that clarifies the platform. (Unless you already know for sure?)

right. hehe. Maybe audi will offer both the V-8 and the v-6tt in the next S4. Ya, in my dreams. But, yes. With a modified hood and chassi, you CAN fit a V-8 in the S4. There is also the RS6. Basically a sedan S6 with a big beefy twin turbo V-8 in it. That will probably compete with the M5, E55, ect. and the S4 with a bigger V-6 will compete with the M3. And maybe a 2.7 TT in the S3 to compete with subie and mitsu? Ya, thats in my dreams too.
