No sooner than 5 minutes after i get my car from the body shop...PULLED OVER!
First time for over a year since ive had my car, i got pulled over by a piggy on a bike...
no front plate he says...
then he goes on to ask..."is this an a4?"
ummm, no its not.
and i dont plan on putting that plate on either
he was also hastling me if it was my car or not...which i can understand, but we arent in nj...sorry to you all from there
at least i wasnt speeding, and he was relatively nice about it all, no CH(i)P on his shoulder (boy, that was a bad joke)

I had same thing.. had to tak the tint off the fronts, get it checked off, put back on...
stupidest CA law ever...
But they won't renew your registration or your D/L if you don't get the ticket checked off, but the cops that sign it off don't look too close, so you could probably get away with some sort of tempoary front plate (maybe in the front window? or ducttape? )..better than drilling the damn holes in the bumper for sure.

Think about it.
As current law stands in most places, you can be pulled over for as little as a burned-out taillight. By operating without a front plate, you are basically giving carte blanche to every single policeman out there in your state (and many other states) to pull you over, whether or not you were doing anything else wrong. If you happen to have been speeding or committing some other infraction, then it gives the officer something else to write you on. So even if you can get the speeding ticket thrown out, the plate ticket may stick.
Is it really worth all that just to drive without a front license plate? It sure isn't to me. YMMV.

You can be pulled over even if driving responsibly...
...if your front plate is missing and it's required in your state.
(Of course, you can be pulled over at any time for any reason, even if it's not legal. I mean to write that you can be *legitimately* pulled over if you don't use your front license plate.)
I prefer to try not to draw attention to myself.
