Noise from the back on startup. Fuel pump? Is it normal? (Tried searching the archives)
More or less everytime I start my '01 S4, there is a noise that comes from the back of the car. I'm not sure, but I think it is coming from the driver's side. It last just a few seconds. It's noticable, but not really that loud. I'd best describe it as a buzzing.
My general car knowledge leads me to believe it is just the fuel pump building up pressure. I tried searching the S4 and A4 archives to see if others have had this and if it is normal, but the results I got were not that conclusive.
Any help?

Normal...it's a gurgle lots of times...it's due to the shape of the tank...kinda like a horseshoe
it's that way to clear the rear diff...as a result the car has a pump which balances the fuel level between the two halves at startup...it's quite loud at times.
