Not For Sale, Information Only Post on a Custom Sub-Box Enclosure
I just wanted the title to convey the true intentions so a moderator doesn't delete the post assuming I am selling the enclosure.
Here are some pictures of the custom sub-box I made for my S4. It is a fiberglass construction (six layers) for a 10 inch sub. I wasn't going for all out bass; just a subtle addition to the stock system. But I was able to make it to where little to no trunk space is lost. Even the spare tire can be accessed without removing the sub or the amplifier.
The sub-box isn't complete. I used some old material I had but it doesn't match very well. I am planning on finding better matching material soon and recovering. In addition I will be making a polished aluminum retaining bracket to replace the simple L-bracket shown in the image.

That's really clean, but no sulution that didn't involve a $2 bracket on top?
And, I never unstood the concept of trunk sub like that...how do prevent something in your trunk from piercing the driver in a turn? Or is your trunk rendered useless??

As mentioned, it isn't done yet and that bracket cost more like $0.50 ;-)
I have the material to make a nice retaining bracket which I should complete shortly.
As for breaking the sub, a grill will also be going on shortly negating the issue of possible damage. But in my case, I never use the trunk which is why I haven't hurried out to get a grill. It is also why I am attemtoting to replace the S4 with a C6, I don't need the room, the Sienna is for hauling people and stuff. ;-)

Were you able to get close to the recommended inside dimensions for that particular sub?
Or did you just do you just say f it, and do whatever fits? I've been thinking of trying the same thing.

Yes, I have around one cubic foot which is good for most 10 inch units.
That is part of the reason from that side extension at the top. Plus it is poly filled as well.

Here's one that fits a 10" ported. 1.75 cu ft. No trunk space lost. Amps in floor.

Here's mine
I can tell by the pics that mine has a lot more volume. Mine goes all the way to almost under the rear speakers and utilizes all that space as part of the cub chamber. Looks nice though man good job!

Amp rack folds up and attaches under the rear deck.
Here's the best part-----> I can have the amp rack AND subwoofer out of the car in under 60 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
