I think the new Powermac G5 is the first comsumer box to run a 64-bit OS

Default Actually, it was the DEC Alpha workstation running Windows NT and OSF/1 back in 1993...

i had one running at 160Mhz when the fastest Intel chip was 66Mhz going on 90 Mhz.

There are 64-bit versions of windows OSes, i think maybe just Windows2003 right now. Itanium chip.

Yes, Apple sells more then Dec did but Apple:PC is probably equal to Sun:Apple and slowaris has been 64 bit for a while too.
