Default oh man...beat a Camaro

I finally had someone actually race my tip S4. It was a kid in a newish looking stock camaro (they are V6s). I beat him fairly easily but would brake at 120 because we were on surface streets.

I didn't beat him by near enough for there to be a $23,000 price difference and a 50hp difference. I'm glad I'm getting that chip tomorrow. I'd hate to try and race a Z28 or SS in this thing. I guess 0-60 in 6.7 and quarter in about 15.1...basically the same as a 1996 VTEC Prelude.

After a couple (or 3) stoplights, he turned right and I turned left. He looked over and lit up his tires and laid a really nice strip around the turn.

If you're considering the tip and are very performance minded, forget it.

I know...why didn't I buy a Camaro (or 2). I hardly have to answer that but I would sure love to be closer to the 6-speeds performance. Anyone from Audi listning?

I would think if you wanted to go fast you'd buy a 6spd

Default It felt fast on the test drive and I needed an auto...

because of all the fwy driving I do. I guess I feel disappointed because they advertise 0-60 in 5.9 for 6-speed, which is about .4 seconds slow. I figured the 6.5 for the tip would be off too. Problem is, it's off in the wrong direction.

Default Uhh, so stop whining?!

I don't mean to sound too harsh, but it was your decision so live with it!!! You've complained several times on this board, but really there is no one to blame but yourself.

Big girls don't cry ,

Default By the way...

About every two days, someone posts asking whether they should buy a 6-speed or tip. The last post suggested the tip is faster in every day driving, which is rediculous. This board is about discussing problems and new stuff and I'm going to bitch about my slow S4 as long as people are reading the board to make a decision.

I got an Audi with steel uprights, 2 pistion brakes and couldn't do 0-60 in 6.5 if it was pushed off a cliff. So I've been lied to and cheated by Audi. I can't think of any better place to "whine" about it than a public forum for people who may be making a buying decision.

This is my first Audi and although I love alot about the way the car feels and is designed (I think the handling is superb for the street), I'm not just going to sit back and blow sunshine out it's tailpipes. Now that I've lived with the tip for a couple of months, it isn't a very well designed tranny, it has quirks that would never have been allowed on the road by Honda (their sportshif doesn't go CLUNK when you accelerate while it's thinking about downshifting from 2nd to 1st for one thing, and the shifter can't get stuck not quite in park so you can't get the key out for another), but I didn't see any bashing of the tip in the message boards. I used this board for info in my buying decision and to me, the raving reviews of how cool the tip was were overly forgiving for both it's quirks and it's amazing detriment to performance.

So call me a whiner, but somewhere someone will read one of my posts and choose better than I did and be happier with their purchase.

Look for my next post after I get back from the street races in Pomona...course by then I may have blown the tranny ;-)

Default Any rear wheel drive car can lay a rubber strip on a turn.

Default My S4 is awesome, yours sucks. Perhaps you should donate it to charity for the tax writeoff.

I'm sure some nuns would love to have your car. They will not lose sleep about steel uprights, and all the other horrible problems you are having that are keeping you up at night, and causing bad dreams about 0-60 in only 6.6 sec, and how Audi betrayed you. Yes, they singled you out for abuse. I think Piech is at home now, pushing needles into his voodoo doll of you as I write. I feel bad for you, I really do.
