oil analysis results from oil analyzers, inc.
anyone else done this and have results that were posted here (LCP & LosGatosS4 i know you guys did it but can't find your results)?
how do i interpret these values? all it said in the analysis section was "results of test performed indicate no corrective action required."<ul><li><a href="http://www.funkadelic.org/oil_analysis/">http://www.funkadelic.org/oil_analysis/</a</li></ul>

Cool, oil... one of my favorite topics...
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/14154/oil_analysis.jpg"></center><p>Funk, I had 2 done at 15k miles by different labs (wanted to see if they would both return similar results) I only had 5k miles on the oil. The two labs were Oil Analyzers, as you used, and Blackstone Labs. I've used AMSOIL Series 2000 0w-30 since about 5k miles.
1st thing I noticed is there are some slight variations in the listed analysis even between the two done by Oil Analyzers. Yours has a value for Potassium which was missing from mine (cut off on bottom of pic), and mine has a value for Cadmium which isn't on yours. However they were both zero on our oils so it makes no difference, it's just interesting that they tested for different chemicals.
For the most part we are very close. I have more parts of aluminum and iron, but I'm not real concerned as it is not outrageously high, and I probably should have waited longer after pulling the plug to collect the sample. My report also said good for continued use. The biggest difference is Redline's use of Molybdenum where it looks like AMSOIL uses Magnesium.
Now I'm not sure what the TBN of new Redline is, but for AMSOIL it's about 11.1 and I was down to 7.2. This basically represents the motor oils ability to fight acids and corrosion so a higher number would be benficial for extended drain intervals. Yours shows up at 4.92 which is perfectly fine from my understanding as some regular oils only start out at like 5 when new.
It looks like your viscosity went up from new which would indicate the oil is starting to thicken which may not be a good sign for extended drain intervals, but it only went up a little bit, and they have indicated there is no cause for concern. I think the 30 weight range runs from about 9 to about 13 so 12.26 is the high side of a 30W oil.
I hope that helps some. Let me know if you want more detail, or shoot me an E-mail.
BTW My analysis came with a nice little booklet describing everything in the tests. Yours didn't have one?

I dunno what it means...
I didn't get my oil analyzed. LCP did, though.
Dang, do you usually go 10k between? Seems like a lot for K03's.... but, sounds like yours might be fine.
