No good reason. I'm not sure at all why he said that. Refer to my reply to him just above.

Default I run 2 oils and have excellent UOAs on both under various driving conditions

Pentosin Pento-High Performance 5w40 Synthetic
Lubro-Moly 5w40 Synthetic

Both are German made full synthetics. You have to order Pentosin online but you can find Lubro-Moly at most Napas. And - *always* use an Audi filter (Mahle or Mann) - don't use the crap you find at autozone.

I have 190,000 miles on original turbos with ASP programming and I am not easy on my car by any means.

Ask 6 guys their opinion on oil and you'll get 6 different answers. These have worked for me and are VW/Audi 502.00 and 505.01 approved oils.

Here's my UOA at 149K

Valvoline Synpower 5-30. Readily available and it's the local dealer's choice.

Default ACEA A3/B3 is my guide

Mobil 1 0W-40 meets this spec.

A lot of other oil brands/viscosities do not.

None of the Mobil 1 Extended Performance oils meet this spec.

"Regular" Mobi1 1 0W-30 does not meet it either. Check the owners manual for more info on ACEA A3/B3. I'm not as big of a Mobil1 fan as I used to be, but their 0W-40 product is still very good.
