Default Oil level in transmission 6spd 01E AWD?

Hi,

Need your input on this: I want to check and top up oil level in gearbox and final drive, but I've had some problems finding the correct specification. My car is a 1999 S4, 6spd manual gearbox, all wheel drive.

The Bently manual (CD AUDI A4,S4 1996-2000 Official Factory Repair Manual v 99.12) says on page 34-38, 6-Spd. Manual Transmission 01E All Wheel Drive :
"Specification: oil level 7 mm ±1 mm below bottom lip of oil filler hole"

I also talked to the local Audi tech support and got this info faxed to me (cut from a swedish translation of the repair manual):

"Oil level in manual transmission, checking
Vehicles with V6 bi-turbo engine
Specification: oil level 12 mm ±1 mm below bottom lip of oil filler hole"

5mm difference is quite a lot with a tolerance of ±1 mm. Tech support cant explain the difference.

Does anyone have the correct specification?

Br,
Mathias
