Default oil temps..

have been acting bizarro for me lately. Guage cuts out totally sometimes for a while.

My Bentley is not installed at the moment, exactly where is the oil temp sensor, is it easy to get at... and is it cheap ?

and... opinions and/or experiences with this type of problem ? My guage cluster seems to be fine, no broken lites or anything else.

Thanks,

Ken

Default Oil temp sensor....

I had the same problem... my oil temp was jumping all over the place, would go as high as 325 degrees (scary!) but then suddenly drops to nothing and not read at all.

When I looked through AllData and Snap-On's shop key, they described the oil temp sensor being on the front driver side of the engine. But we couldn't find anything but the oil pressure switch.

Oddly enough, we decided to change the sensor that sits at the bottom of the oil pan towards the passenger side and it fixed my problem. Everything works fine now...

Default thanks for the input...

Mark at AMS suggested that as well. I'll look into swapping that... I presume it's a DIY type thing ?

Default Do it the next time you do an oil change

Very easy ... like two or three bolts if i remember correctly and you don't have to worry about oil getting everywhere...
