I know, EMCS is nice, but it's still a modified ECU ... this isn't!
Richard

I want APR, GIAC, MTM, etc... s/w in this type of packaging!
I agree that reprogramming NA engines doesn't *generally* achieve much. I wasn't so much pitching the Bonneville s/w as the *idea* of the device.
Heck, the same technology exists for 'merican Iron too...
Richard

Try ZERO uses. I really thought it was gonna be the sh*t....30HP from 2000-5000..MY ***!!!
As far as I'm concerned Conforti is a great guy but his 96-99 E36 m3 shark chip is good for .3 seconds 0-60 only because you don't ahve to shift into 3rd until after 60mph. redline is 7200 now
although if he can sell the BMW ($$$$) injector for like $400, why the hell does audi SW cost 600-800???

Yeah except C&D did a 4-chip article and this Hypertech was one of 'em same lack of diff
maybe the format doesn't lend itself to making all the changes that a new Eprom(sp?) does???

Again, Turbo + new s/w = BIG HP. Normally aspirated + new s/w = little if any HP
The Shark Injector and Hypertech both work on N.A. engines, so you see the same minimal gains. The concept of reprogramming the flash ROM through the diagnostic port is no different than reprogramming the flash in a programmer and putting it back into the ECU. Look at the *end* of that C&D article for the same conclusion: turbo + "chip" = good.
Richard

Yeah but the injector is only for Siemens ECU's (96-99) the 95 M3 had Bosch motronic and still..
requires a new Eprom, so I not sure we can flash program our ECU's at all. Hmmmmm

Yes, we can. It is a flash type chip and can be overwritten/upgraded via the OBD port...
just like Conforti's device.
The difference is that all the good software programmers want to protect their programs .
That requires the installation of hardware in the ECU, such as an encryption device, which means opening up the ECU and having at it with a soldering iron.
