<whining>

My stepmother's E36 M3 has a 1 finger gap in the rear with STOCK suspension.

My mother's A4 2.8 Sport is 25.25" from ground to fender all around.

So why the heck does Audi sell S4s with HUGE wheel gap (relative to the competition)????

Audi's designers are just getting sloppy. Look at the S4 engine problems with leaks & turbos

Default Solved for 2001.5 and 2002 MYs. Every new car design has problems.

Takes the manufacturers a few years to iron out the problems. That's why the E46 had some initial problems, and why the B6 S4 will have its problems, too, IMO.

Sorry, but I get irritated with all the talk about our "fragile" engines, when I don't think they're really that fragile or poorly engineered. :-p

Default K03 failures aren't isolated to 2000's. Audi may have improved things, but I don't think the K03 is

really a robust unit. Also, our IC end tanks are still plastic and the throttle body boot is still prone to tearing. The did update a bunch of stuff, but I don't think the problems were ever solved on the S4.

Default the S4 is a comprimise of alot of things...

remember the target deomgraphic was probably a middle aged man looking for a bit more speed in a luxo sedan...
the enthusiast is NOT the majority...

its a shame though isn't it...the S4 is/was close to what both the target demographic and the enthusiast crowd wanted...in the end we got what the target demographic wants...(reliability problems aside)...

Default Well, you're right - not trouble-free. But not nearly as bad as people make it seem on here.

To your credit, I have heard of late model K03 failures and torn TBBs, but not nearly as many as before the updates. Remember, AW is an aggressive subset of the general S4 population.

Default The engine it-self may be solid... But the stock turbos suck.

And later model or not, TBB, BPVs, IC hoses, IC end tanks, F-hoses (if your pre 1.5), and a myriad of smaller problems still exist.
