Ok. So I put my car in gear, let out the clutch, and all I get is "click click click click"...

Same in reverse.
Could the telephone pole I hit yesterday morning have anything to do with it?
(a joke-- I had to have the car towed...)
I was having a bit too much fun yesterday morning and (finally?) had an accident. If I would have had the ESP on, it wouldn't have happened-- but I did say I was having too much fun.
Spun into the pole-- impact was at the left rear wheel-- basically dead-on. No broken windows, but big damage to the whole wheel area (rear door, rear quarter panel, wheel itself...) The wheel cocked at a nasty angle, rim bent up. Both the side curtain and side seat airbag deployed-- and a good thing. I only have a small goose-egg on my forehead and a sore shoulder. The airbags worked as designed-- I'm a little burned on my side, but they absorbed the vast majority of the impact.
I left my camera at a friend's house the night before, so no pics yet. Heading to the body shop early tomorrow to figure out what's going on-- I'll get pic's then. I was wondering how many aftermarket parts insurance wouldn't cover-- but with the exception of the suspension, a sway bar, and the wheel, my car is stock from the short-shifter back...
I love my car like no car I've ever owned-- so I was pleasantly surprised that I took the whole thing in perspective-- it's just a (fun, gorgeous, etc, etc!) car.
I now know why it takes folks a couple of days to post after accidents. It's traumatic.

1st, sorry about the accident........
glad you are O.K. Sounds like something in the rear diff, or the axel shaft on left rear wheel is broken. On a quattro car if you disconnect the rear driveshaft, the car will not move.

Thanks, I'm hoping it's not too bad...
No leaking fluids, the engine starts and runs right, clutch and brakes still seem to work... Axle sure looked broken from the angle of the wheel, but I couldn't get under it at the time.
