Okay... making a new shift boot. What color should it be? Blue or black?

I'd do it myself...
Its not as easy as a shift boot since its all got to be done by hand, but it just takes patience. I did a custom leather cover on the steering wheel on my old '87 Celica Convertible. Took me an hour or two to get it looking like it came that way from the factory, but it wasn't too bad. In that case I just bought some leather, cut the pattern, punched small holes for a very heavy nylon thread, wet the leather and stitched it onto the steering wheel. When the leather dried, it shrank to fit all the curves and looked factory.
I can't shrink the alcantara like that, but it appears to have enough stretch that if I get the curves right in the pattern, it should snug right up. I'm debating if I want to risk removing the stock leather or doing it over it.
