Default One Lap of America Update -- Miller Motorsports Afternoon Update from ASP

Miller Motorsports Afternoon update..

In the afternoon, Neil the Wheel came through yet AGAIN ! Without knowing the track, he handily beat the S4 "feature" car from AudiWorld. We're 16th overall and had a great afternoon finish on the looooong 4.5 mile course. We were running radar on the main straightaway and were @ 137mph. The measurement point was roughly 300 ft before the brake zone and Neil was reporting speeds in excess of 145mph. Still, it's damn astounding that the twin turbo vipers and Vettes were hitting 180ish. We had roughly 3-4 mph over the Babcock's on the straightaway, but they made that up in the turns as they finished slightly ahead of us in class for the afternoon event. We were 6 full seconds ahead of the of the other S4 Stg III team (an eternity in this type of event).

The car is great.

The drivers are getting a bit tired.

The tires? Getting a good workout but still hanging in there. PS2's are amazing!

Brakes? Good. All systems go. We may need a pad change toward the end of the week. We'll see. We're at about 50% left to destroy.

The car burns nor loses any oil.

DVD Alpine sound system and Nav rocks out for long trips. Technology is soo damn awesome.

We raced a guy in a blown t-bucket on a long stretch of highway earlier. The thing had huge rear tires (probably 30" wide) and some 6-71 blower sitting on top of the motor. He instigated, and we obligated. It was funny as hell. Jeremy was driving at the time, and Neil and I were waving at the driver of the t-bucket as the S4 slowly walked away from him with 3 passengers and several hundred pounds of gear. We slowed down to see if he wanted a second chance, but, he didn't feel a rematch was necessary. I guess he really knew that this was a "race car" LOL!

Oh, and we got busted tonight by a Colorado State Trooper. It was bound to happen sooner than later. We've been rolling out at over 30mph over the limit in the desolate areas. And, tonight we got a surprise. We came over a hill @ 90mph and were instantly pegged by a trooper headed the opposite direction. She (!) slammed on the brakes and took up chase. The Ultima GTR that was following us kept going, we waved him away. No sense in both of us getting nailed. So, she pulls us over and my buddy Jeremy instantly goes into former state police officer mode. She said, "I know you were doing over 90mph because you were on the brakes when I tagged you". He said "yea, can you blame us, this car is really set up to be safe and make speed". On the job type of stuff ensued after that... she came back with a "warning" that if we hit any deer, that it was on us! And, away we went with a warning for 90mph in a 55mph. How often does that happen?

The event at Miller today was fantastic. We couldn't have been happier. For the afternoon, we pulled out the seats and all types of ancillary stuff to lighten up the car. Figure 100lbs was worth at least a tenth on the straightaways. It worked out well. Only the factory Dodge SRT8 and the Babcocks inched us out in class points. So, now we're tied with the Babcocks for 2nd and the factory Dodge is in 1st.

We're at Pueblo Motorsports in Colorado now and am anticipating another super strong finish tomorrow!

Default With working brakes 6 seconds is a blip of an eye...

As far as the speeding ticket, you guys suck. :-)
