Ongoing limp mode problem, at wits end
Hi guys,
I have had an ongoing problem with my 2001 s4 with 54k miles. Here are my error codes from vag, these codes are thrown along with all the dash yellow lights coming on and limp mode.
18047 Accelerator Position Sensor 1/2 G79/G185 Implausible Signs P1639 - 35 -10 Intermittent Readiness
18264 Throttle Potentiometer G69 Error from ECU P1856 35-10 Intermittent
I have done the following over the course of 10 months to try to fix the currently unknown cause of these errors:
- Replaced pedal assembly
- Checked cabling going from pedal to ecu for shorts
- Replaced ECU
- Removed aftermarket alarm system to eliminate it from possible causes.
I paid audi to do the last step and my car went for 4 days with no error codes. Of course they came back the 5th day after starting the car and gently pushing the throttle. As soon as they are cleared the come right back. If I unplug and plug the ecu sometimes they dont come back for a couple of hours of driving.
I just moved to the Atlanta area and am trying my luck with a dealership I have never been to. Currently my car has been at Jim Ellis audi in Atlanta, GA for 6 days. They call me every day and basically tell me they have no idea what they are doing. Today they called and said even though I already replaced the ecu I have to buy a new one because everything points to the ECU being bad.
SO..... does anyone know a place that can actually fix my car in the atlanta area, or can someone tell me what to do before I drive my s4 into a wall.

"They call me every day and basically tell me they have no idea what they are doing".
Now that's Stealership quality for ya.
Wish I had suggestions for ya man...
I would try a independent mech' that works on German cars...
Check the local forum for advice on a good place?
