Default When you say "gets hot" do you mean over-heat? Where is the temp needle when it happens?

If it's over-heating, make sure the radiator fan is kicking on. The older Audis are infamous for having them crap out...thus causing overheating...and the coolant geyser you see. (I know it ohhh too well!). Thermostat can also be an issue with that symptom.

Guess I'm just asking for more info...

Default Any leak in the system prevents it from pressurizing.

If it can't pressurize, that means a lower boiling point. Lower boiling point means the system will boil over, and fluid will come out of the overflow reservoir (and wherever the leak is).

When I say "gets hot" I mean operating temp. No other obvious symptons ... the car is old as hell.

Default Ok, so no overheat. Is it overflowing from the expansion tank? Or are you just noticing it...

on the floor of your garage (could be h2o pump dying, crazy leak in radiator and/or hoses)?

If it's out of the expansion tank and you're not over heating...then RKA is probably dead on.

I would replace the radiator caps. and do compression test to check headgasket
